Recently married
and in a new job as an Industrial Designer, Tom Woolley
and his new bride set out to buy their first home
in 1989. Recognizing the need for an inspection, they hired
a local inspector to check out the home. Although technically
accurate, the home inspection did not meet their expectation
as an opportunity to learn about the different features
of the home and how the systems worked together to create
a comfortable living environment.
The recession
of early 1990s dug in and Tom found himself out of a job
(his employer shut down the company). An entrepreneur at
heart, Tom decided that an Industrial Design background
combined with an enthusiastic interest in home construction
would make for a great home inspection company.
A quick
call to the GTA’s preeminent home inspection firm
found Tom in an intensive training program. Strict membership
requirements for the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors
and the American Society of Home Inspectors demanded further
training and onsite learning. In May of 1991, Boulevard
Property Inspection was born. In June of the same year,
Boulevard performed its first fee-paid inspection and has
never looked back.
To date,
Boulevard has performed over 8000 residential inspections
and continues to grow year after year.
